Summer School 2023

The third and final summer school of the first funding period of the SPP 2244 took place at TU Dresden from August 29 to August 31, 2023. The topic was "Simulation of van der Waals [hetero]structures." The summer school had a total of 30 participants, bringing together bachelor and master students, Ph.D. students, postdoctoral students, and even assistant professors from five different continents. The scientific program and impressions can be found below.

Scientific program

The scientific program of the summer school focussed on learning how to perform simulations for van der Waals [hetero]structures. It consisted of tutorial talks by experts in the field, followed by hands-on sessions where the newly gained knowledge was applied. We used the software AMS. The scientific program can be found here. Additionally, there was a poster session in which the participants were invited to present their scientific work. We congratulate Gusthavo Miranda Simões Brizolla for winning the poster prize for his poster with the title "Investigation of electrically controlled charge qubit in van der Waals heterostructure: a Tight-Binding approach."
